Since the beginning of the year, the South China Sea has seen the emergence of 19 typhoons and tropical lows - This is a near-record number, just one less than in the tragic year of 2017. The element caused a catastrophic damage in Vietnam, primarily affecting rural communities whose lives and security depend on agriculture and small-scale farming.

The scale of the losses is enormous:

• 409 people declared dead or missing,
• 727 people were injured,
• over 337,000 homes were damaged, destroyed or completely collapsed,
• close to 553,500 hectares of rice fields and crops was under water,
• total economic losses exceeded 85,099 billion dong.

For thousands of families, every day is a struggle for survival. There is a shortage of food, clean water, shelter and basic hygiene supplies. Many communities have been cut off from access to medical care and the ability to rebuild their lives.

Our team is on site and together with a local partner VMKlighting provides assistance to families most in need, who have lost their livelihoods and require immediate support. Thanks to their knowledge of the area and the needs of local people, help is delivered quickly and exactly where it is most urgently needed.

As part of this mission, we have already reached 11 locations, providing humanitarian support to communities affected by the floods. To date, assistance has been provided to 1350 families, by providing families with assistance packages containing food and everyday products, clothing and protection against the cold, basic household items, support for children, and medical kits for families.

We are there where help is needed most. We support families who have lost everything - with the hope that together we can help them rebuild their lives after this tragedy.
