During our response in Indonesia in Flores, we kept going further, from main roads to narrow mountain routes, until eventually our vehicles simply couldn’t go any further. In some places, we transferred Family Kits onto motorbikes and continued, carrying the assistance one by one to remote communities.

Some of the villages we reached were so isolated that residents had never seen a foreigner before. Our arrival was often a complete surprise.

Over the course of this response, with the support of @royalcaribbean and local partners, our teams reached dozens of villages across three regencies in Flores, delivering nearly 40 tonnes of food and drinking water, alongside thousands of essential hygiene kits.

Our mission in Indonesia continues.

Over the past weeks, our team has reached families across Sikka, Nagekeo and Manggarai Regencies, delivering essential food, water and hygiene supplies to communities affected by the earthquake.

We work closely with village leaders, local emergency response posts (Posko), and Catholic parishes actively supporting affected communities, allowing us to coordinate assistance and reach multiple villages at the same time.

In many places, the reality after the earthquake is still very difficult. Families are sleeping in temporary tents and shelters, often with several households staying together.

🇮🇩 Our response continues across Flores in Indonesia.

From our temporary warehouse in Maumere, we prepare new relief kits every day for families affected by the earthquake. After our distributions across Sikka Regency, we are expanding our response to Nagekeo and East Manggarai.

We coordinate distributions directly with local village leaders, who know their communities and their needs best. They help us identify where assistance is most needed and which families should be prioritised.

Reaching many of these communities is a challenge. Some villages are simply inaccessible by vehicle, so residents walk down from remote areas to agreed distribution points where we can safely meet them and deliver the assistance.

With each distribution, we are moving further from our base in Maumere and reaching more remote communities across Flores.

Our teams are on the ground on Flores Island, Indonesia, responding to the catastrophic M7.7 earthquake. This response is made possible thanks to our partnership with Royal Caribbean Group, whose crucial support enables us to deliver direct relief where it’s needed most.

The scale of destruction across the region is staggering, over 110,000 people have been displaced, nearly 45,000 homes are damaged or destroyed, and continuous aftershocks keep shaking the island daily.
On the ground, we are working closely with our local partner, whose deep knowledge of the terrain is invaluable in helping us reach those most in need.

We pushed deep into the jungle in Sikka Regency. The trauma here is profound. Many homes have been severely damaged, forcing entire families to sleep huddled together in makeshift shelters, often little more than plastic tarps stretched over wooden frames. Even residents whose homes are still standing are far too afraid to sleep inside, terrified of ongoing tremors.
We delivered essential aid to remote jungle villages that hadn’t received a single piece of assistance since the earthquake.

We will continue pushing further into remote areas to ensure assistance reaches communities that need it most.

Food parcels reached families living in the internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip.

This is the start of planned activities, which we will continue until the end of the year. In the coming months, aid will reach further locations and families in need of support.

Every distribution is another stage of our work on site and another family we can reach with basic food aid.

Venezuela

Venezuela has been hit by two strong earthquakes, which caused extensive damage within seconds. Thousands of families have lost their homes, and rescuers are constantly searching for people trapped under the rubble.

In response to the disaster, @globalempowermentmission has launched a humanitarian mission. Today, the first plane carrying aid arrived in Venezuela, and GEM and GEM Europe teams, together with local partners, have begun organising relief efforts and preparations for the first distributions.

This is just the beginning of this mission. In the coming days, we will keep you updated on the situation on the ground and report on the next stages of our work.

We reached the mountainous regions in the north, where damaged roads made it impossible to drive any higher. Residents walked several kilometres down from remote villages to receive our assistance.
We provided shoes, warm jackets, food, blankets, toys for children and other essential support needed in the harsh, cold mountain conditions.

For many of the children, these toys were the first they had ever received. Their families live in deep poverty, and even simple items can bring joy.
The determination of these families to reach the distribution point shows just how great the needs truly are.
