Fires in France

In August 2022 GEM Europe responded to one of the most devastating fires to hit France in recent years. The fire, which broke out near Bordeaux, quickly spread to rural and forested areas, covering more than 40 kilometres. More than 1000 firefighters from all over Europe, to protect communities and limit the scale of damage.

As part of the emergency response GEM Europe delivered humanitarian aid to the designated distribution point in the disaster area. From there, articles were circulated to both affected residents and rescuers fighting the fire on the front line.

Through coordination with local partners and emergency services, aid reached those most in need in a rapid and well-organised manner.
