At the end of October 2024 The Valencia region of Spain has been hit by catastrophic floods, which followed several days of heavy rainfall. The disaster claimed the lives of more than 200 people, entire towns were under water and thousands of homes and vehicles were destroyed or severely damaged. In some places, the water level rose by several metres, forcing residents to evacuate en masse and paralysing local infrastructure. It was one of the most tragic natural disasters to hit Spain in decades.

GEM Europe, in cooperation with Goya Spain, responded within 24 hours. Thanks to Goya Spain's immediate support, we were able to gain rapid access to high-quality food products, allowing us to efficiently complete and deliver hundreds of humanitarian aid parcels.
To ensure that aid reached the most affected communities as quickly as possible, we worked with local parishes, which acted as distribution and coordination centres. They made it possible to mobilise local volunteers to help sort, pack and directly deliver the aid to residents.
Our relief efforts have focused on most affected areas around Alaquàs, Aldaia, Massanassa, Paiporta and Chiva, where families faced significant losses and urgent needs.
The activities were realised through a combination of local resources and international support, at a crucial time after the disaster.
