Fires in Spain

In August 2022 GEM Europe delivered urgent humanitarian aid to the Valencia region of Spain, where the country struggled with the most serious fire season in more than a century. A fire near Bejís burned thousands of hectares of land, destroyed homes and forced entire communities to evacuate. Many villages in the region were left without access to clean drinking water, further aggravating the situation for residents returning to their homes.

GEM responded by supplying the necessary items to a local distribution point, including large quantities of bottled water, food and hygiene products. These products went to residents who had just returned after evacuation.
