Nationwide children's toy project

Between August and December 2024, Global Empowerment Mission Europe carried out an extensive toy distribution project in Germany to support children living in difficult circumstances. In total 600 pallets of new toys went to organisations working with socially excluded children, orphans and the youngest from families affected by poverty or forced displacement.

To ensure smooth coordination and delivery, GEM Europe set up a logistics centre in Neumünster, which acted as a transhipment warehouse and sorting point. This is where our team organised and repacked the toys according to the needs of the individual organisations and the age groups of the children.

The European Ukrainian Bridge Foundation played a key role in the whole endeavour. It was thanks to their local contacts and logistical support that we were able to acquire warehouse space and successfully organise a distribution network in Germany. In the initial phase, important support was also provided by the organisation Der Hafen HilftThe next stage of the project was implemented using the logistics centre in Neumünster, which was made available thanks to the cooperation with the network. The new toys were then distributed to a wide network of organisations working with disadvantaged children and families, including: 

Jumpers, Polish Christian Center e.V., von Cansteinsche Bibelanstalt Westfalen together with oikos-Institut für Mission und Ökumene der Evangelischen Kirche von Westfalen, Stützende Hände e.V., UA Never Alone / Association of Ukrainians of Northern Germany e.V., Die Arche Kinderstiftung Christliches Kinder- und Jugendwerk, Dansk Skoleforening e.V., Polish Christian Centre e.V., Bürger helfen Bürgern e.V.,
Italienische evangelische Mission Düsseldorf e.V. and Helping Hands - Social Charity Mission.

Through this collaboration, thousands of children across Germany received high-quality new toys that brought them moments of joy, a sense of normality and social inclusion. The project also had a developmental dimension - it supported the integration of the youngest children and strengthened the capacity of the partner organisations that help their communities on a daily basis.
